Hello from Kazakhstan!

A quick note to let you know we have arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Though not without some adventure - our flight out of Dulles was delayed two hours due to thunderstorms, which resulted in us missing our connection in Frankfurt.

We were routed to Amsterdam, then switched carriers to KLM into Almaty. This required a mad dash through the Amsterdam airport to make this flight, and of course, this means that none of our luggage made it. :-) We're told it should show up in a couple of days. Fortunately, we have with us all of the important documents, etc. we need to move forward.

Will send another update hopefully tomorrow or Saturday after we have a first visit to the baby house!

Hooray! You are there! Ahhh, memories came flooding back to us with all the missing luggage talk. Your adventure is in full swing, precious friends! We love you -- and have you constantly on our minds as you prepare to meet your newest family member.

Oh yeah the memories of me standing in court in front of the judge with borrowed pants that were 2" too short, a sports coat with sleeves 4" too short, a really tight borrowed shirt and non of it matched. Oh and to top it off, my brown Sketcher sneakers with white tube socks. Boy what a memory... No, I do not have photos...

Lost luggage just adds to the experience!

Hope yours shows up before your court date!

so glad to hear you've made it safe and sound. the almaty airport's an adventure in itself, isn't it - or getting through customs anyway. :) hopefully your bags arrive soon. if not, there are plenty of stores in kazakhstan with new styles to choose from. the real adventure begins now. can't wait to hear more!

Awesome!!

What is up with that route? My luggage got lost by KLM in Amsterdam on my way to Italy. Didn't get it back till I flew back through Amsterdam.

I am doing a little jig for you! Can't wait to hear about the baby house.

Much love to you both,
Lee (Ham Spice)

WOW! I'm so excited that you are both quick on your feet - I can just see you running through the airport with all your carry on items! So glad you had the foresight to take the most important things on board with you. I will be anxiously awaiting the next blog and your first impressions of your precious little one and the baby house, etc.
This will only add to the story you are able to tell Lily when she gets old enough to understand how much you went through to get her. It is so amazing that she is so well loved even before we all see her!!!

Love you big bunches,
Mom

Oh the perils of plane travel these days! This is way too reminiscent of spending 12 hours in De Gualle on our way to Florence last year. At least our luggage showed up after about a 20 hour day mostly spent in airports. But you're safely there looking I am certain more frazzled than the picture on your blog. May the "travel gods" find your luggage and send it soon!

Fabulous! and the adventure continues. What wonderful stories you are going to be able to share with LillyGrace about how she got here. All children want to hear the story over and over again about how they got there, ask any parent, ask any child, they will be able to share the stories of how they became part of thier family. What a wonderful family LillyGrace is becoming a part of, full of love and grace. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
love, betsy
